ORACLE SISTERS
Oracle Sisters’ are modern musical revivalists, influenced by jazz, rock and roll and 100 years of bards and composers. Intricate vocal harmonies over lilting arrangements make an otherworldly vehicle for dreamlike stories of human connection, home and heartbreak.
'Captain America' and 'Siren Song' are offered as a coda to 2021 and represent the culmination of a prolific artistic period as the band gathered songs from recording sessions scattered across Europe and wove them into the soft rock mystical futurism of the dual EPs Paris I and Paris II. This standalone A/B side marks the bridge both to the band's debut LP and, in a broader, collective sense, the beginning of the influence of our new astrological time period - The Age of Aquarius - over mankind as we enter a critical period in our history.
Oracle Sisters are Lewis Lazar, Christopher Willatt and Julia Johansen.
Captain America
‘Captain America' was inspired by a phone call from France to Tucson, Arizona with a silversmith friend of the band that kickstarted a rhapsody of the world encountered along the great American highway stretching from New York to Big Sur painting a picture of the good, the bad, the ugly and everything in between. The recording features friends sitting in on piano and slide guitar, done entirely live in the outskirts of Paris. - Oracle Sisters
Siren Song
'Siren Song' showcases Julia Johansen exploring the mystical realms first touched upon with Paris I's 'High Moon', collaborating with guitar virtuoso Ulysse Cotin of Paris-based band Papooz who takes the production reigns to reveal an intimate and shadowy world blending traditional folk music with Django Reinhardt-style manouche guitar & gypsy Jazz. - Oracle Sisters
